Live Music
Another gig announcement! We are proud to present local poetry punks Kez, who will headline a gig at The Vic Inn Derby on Sunday, September 22nd, with support from touring band Jopy from Brighton and local rock band Sura Laynes.
Kez -
‘Punk poetry, sharp, acerbic wit, rumbling baselines, biting guitar tones and spoken word coupled with stand-out tracks like their debut single ‘Sym-pathetic’ will make for an unforgettable evening of top new music. Post-punk music at its very best.’
Jopy -
'Jopy is a Brighton-based three-piece led by songwriter Jo Parnell, and they release their debut EP on Goo Records on 20th September. Featuring six tracks, including recent singles Head Hunters Pub & Grub and Graveyard Romance, the Planet Zombie EP showcases the band's B52s/Cramps-influenced glam-punk sound chocker with incendiary punk riffs and frantically infectious choruses. Full of macabre joy, the EP sees Parnell celebrate her queerness through fantastical camp-horror fiction via Marc Bolan-esque vocals rolled into one blood-curdlingly gleeful package. Tracing these songs' deeply personal origins, Parnell says: “I want to write songs that people can relate to and feel seen by without having to relive the more difficult aspects of their journeys. This is why I chose to convey my experiences in the form of fun, campy horror stories.”
“Short, sharp punk-pop songs of the wry and witty variety…the midpoint between Elastica and PJ Harvey’s twangier moments” Record Collector
Sura Laynes -
‘Formed in late 2022, Sura Laynes are a 4-piece rock and roll band from Derby, UK. The band’s original songs contain strong melodies and lyrics that instantly affect them. Clean, crisp guitars and strong vocal harmonies give the nod to the bands that built them, with shades of La’s, The Libertines and The Beatles detectable in their honest, heart-on-your-sleeve sound.‘
All profits made will be split equally between the bands.
Tickets are £6 in advance (+booking fee) and £8 OTD. Ticket links in our bio! -
