Express your thoughts, emotions and experiences to create a snapshot of what life was like during the COVID19 pandemic

Made up of over 1,000 canvas printed tiles painted by members of the public, various schools and organisations, lead by Derby-based artist Maggie Roper-Attenborrow.

Maggie gained a B.A. Hons degree from the University of Derby in 1995 and is an Associate Member of Banks Mill Studios and until recently was Founder and CEO of Steps for the Future Performing Arts, for adults with differences. She has also run drawing workshops, focusing on people who think they cannot draw!

Maggie came up with the idea of The Derby Wall based on the Berlin Wall, which became a symbol of people’s expressions of their emotions and feelings. The Derby Wall is to celebrate communities coming back together after the imposed isolation of lockdowns.

Members of the public are invited to paint their own tiles to be added to ‘The Derby Wall’ at the Museum of Making on Tuesday 16 August & Wednesday 17 August.

During the sessions, people can paint or decorate their canvas tile with any idea they like. It may be a picture, pattern or photo either related to the pandemic or not – there are no set rules!

Suitable for all ages under 16s to be accompanied by an adult.

Places are limited, so booking is essential.
