Over the years The Nags Head in Mickleover has had various vegetarian options, and as a vegetarian I am always on the look out for new and interesting vegetarian meals, however it mostly had the “usual suspects” such as Vegetarian Lasagne, Pasta and Salads.

In my opinion, I don’t want to go out and spend money on food which I can easily whip up at home.

As the Nags Head is a Flaming Grill restaurant there are many more meat options on the menu, but I am pleased to say that they now have many more well priced meals for the Vegetarian.

For my main I had the “The Veggie One”, a burger containing Grilled halloumi in a sweet chilli sauce topped with onions in a spicy tomato salsa, served with mayo.

Be warned! It is very messy but delicious. The side of chips can be upgraded to “waffle fries” for 99p (I highly recommend doing this).

Also, if you like mushrooms, make sure you try the Breaded Mushrooms, they are the best ones I’ve ever tried, and you get a generous portion!

The staff have been very friendly and accommodating. I have ordered this burger twice since it appeared on the menu and both times the order was slightly wrong. The first, I was given their old version of the burger which had egg and pineapple on – no thank you! Which was odd as it is not on their present menu, and the second time we received the wrong side option, easily fixed though and they were very apologetic.

Great vegetarian options and friendly staff make the Nags Head one to try. I will definitely be going back in the near future.
