An online directory designed to support local residents' search for professional services has highlighted how Derby City Centre leads the way in legal services, estate agents, creative services, recruitment and education.
Compiled by the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID), the latest guide features over 120 professional services located within the BID area.
Martin Langsdale, Chair for Cathedral Quarter BID, said: “Our high street isn’t just made up of lovely independent shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, Derby has so much more to offer.
“At the beginning of the year, we thought it would be a good time to shine a spotlight on the professional services that line our city streets.
“Do you know where to go if you need a solicitor or an estate agent? You might need a recruitment specialist or a creative service? Our up-to-date directory lists them all and we know this guide will be invaluable to the people in Derby.”
The Cathedral Quarter is also home to a number of options for short term office lets in locations including the Connect building, Sadler Bridge Studios, Riverside Chambers, Kings Chambers and Friar Gate Studios. In Cubo, which is based on Victoria Street, you can hot desk and invest in co-working spaces.
Martin said: “Derby’s Cathedral Quarter is home to the Derby Law School and the International Policing and Justice Institute, as well as the criminology and policing provision.
“We should also celebrate the fact that Derby College has its Joseph Wright Campus in the Cathedral Quarter and that the Derby Business School opens this spring. The Cavendish Building is set to feature superb new teaching facilities and will be the first net zero business school outside of London. This new school will be a valued addition to the city and will support entrepreneurial growth and business connectivity in Derby.”
Since May last year, The Cathedral Quarter welcomed over 30 new businesses. In a report from the BID, it revealed that new cafés, bars and restaurants and a range of other independent shops started trading in the area.
As part of the campaign to shine a spotlight on some of Derby’s professional services, each business will be featured across the Cathedral Quarter social media platforms in the next few weeks.
