As part of its ‘Derbion Cares’ initiative, Derbion has partnered with the Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance to launch an in-centre Donation Station.
Following the successful inaugural year of ‘Derbion Cares’ in 2022, Derby’s shopping and leisure destination is set to expand the initiative with the introduction of an in-centre Donation Station to make it easier for shoppers to support charities in their local community.
Located outside Sainsbury’s on Level 1, the Donation Station will seek varying donations throughout the year and will list items the charities are currently seeking on-site and on the Derbion website, ensuring shoppers can donate in-centre with ease.
The Donation Station is currently seeking contributions of washed and wearable coats, gloves, jumpers, hats and scarves for charities including Food & Education Enterprise, Padley, TOGS, Hope Centre Derby and Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity. The next focus will be donations of toiletries , followed by school uniform items over the summer and finally children’s toys for Christmas.
The launch follows the centre’s continuation of Derbion Cares, which believes in supporting the next generation to build a better future, , as well as running and supporting a regular calendar of charitable events in and around the city.
In 2022, Derbion supported local charities YMCA Derbyshire, RSPCA Derby & District and Safe and Sound with Derbion staff volunteer time, sponsorships, fundraising, facilitated donations and free space in-centre as part of the initiative.
Applications for Derbion Cares 2023 are now closed, with the successful charity set to be revealed over the coming weeks.
Beth McDonald, commercial director of Derbion, said: “After a successful first year of Derbion Cares, which has provided real value to the local community, we’re thrilled to be expanding the initiative to introduce an in-centre donation station so our customers can get involved too.
“Ahead of the Derbion Cares 2023 charity partner being announced, we hope our shoppers will support the new charity box in-centre and donate any necessary items as a contribution.”
