Derbion has announced a string of seasonal activities for visitors to enjoy in the run-up to Christmas, including the return of its Santa’s Magic Cabin experience, festive markets, a Jo Malone pop-up, and much more.

Kicking off the festive season, Santa’s Magic Cabin returns for 2024 and will run until 24th December. Located on Level 1 near the Albion Street entrance, little ones can enjoy the experience for just £8.50* per child. The interactive experience begins with meeting Santa’s elves before visiting the Magic Wishing Well to plant a special seed. Guests will then head to Santa’s cosy cabin to chat with Father Christmas and receive a gift while parents and guardians capture plenty of snaps.

New for this year, Derbion welcomes a pop-up kiosk from luxury fragrance and lifestyle brand Jo Malone. The temporary space will be located on the Upper North Mall near River Island in late November.

Design 44 will host an in-centre pop-up Maker’s Market event on Level 1 on 7 December. This event will give craft lovers the chance to meet the faces behind their unique buys while browsing a wide selection of products.

Derbion’s 12 Days of Christmas competition, which gives one lucky shopper the chance to win 12 prizes, will run from 1st to 12th December. The competition, which will run on Derbion’s social channels, will reveal a new prize each day, with the winner announced on Monday, 16th December.

The centre’s annual toy collection will take place from 1 November to 20 December. Shoppers are encouraged to donate toys at the in-centre donation station. Donated toys will be distributed to Umbrella, The Salvation Army, and Derby City Mission and gifted to children in need before Christmas.

Derby Theatre has also announced that the ever-popular A Christmas Carol and Chicken Licken will return throughout the festive period, while Showcase Cinema de Lux will show a mix of fan favourites and new releases, including Paddington, Venom: The Last Dance, Gladiator II, Moana 2, Wicked, Karate Kid, Lord of the Rings, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Alongside festive events, Derbion will also undergo a magical Christmas makeover, with an array of Christmas decorations and the centre’s sparkly walk-through tree set to appear from 8 November. Plus, visitors can enjoy late-night shopping from 9 December, with stores open until 8 pm Monday through Saturday, while also securing parking for just £2.50 from 5pm.

Beth McDonald, Managing Director at Derbion, said: “As Christmas approaches, we’re excited to announce various activities and events to help get shoppers into the festive spirit.

“From the return of our much-loved Santa’s Magic Cabin event and charity choir performances to pop-up markets and competitions, plenty is going on at Derbion to keep the whole family entertained in the lead-up to Christmas.

“This year has seen the centre welcome much-loved retailers, including B&M, Castore, Pavers and White Stuff, among others, while existing brands, including Ann Summers, New Look and Quiz, have also grown their existing footprint at Derbion, giving visitors even more choice when shopping for gifts this Christmas.”
