Derbion’s Cycle Hub, which has helped to facilitate over 24,000 cycle journeys since it opened in 2022, has officially reopened its doors after relocating from its original space on London Road.
The Cycle Hub, which has reopened in a new space on East Street, outside Derbion. The popular hub offers 26 secure spaces for bikes, bike repair and pump stations, as well as convenient lockers to store helmets and personal belongings.
Delivered in partnership with Spokesafe, Spoke Out and Derby City Council, the Cycle Hub aims to encourage more people to travel into and around the city by bike by offering a safe bicycle storage location that is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
To use the service, customers simply need to download the Spokesafe app and pay a minimum fee of just £1.50 to receive a unique secure access code which will give entry to the Derbion Cycle Hub.
Max Wilson, Founder of Spokesafe, said: “It’s fantastic to reopen our Cycle Hub at Derbion. This was our first location outside of London and is proof that cycling can flourish outside of the capital when the right infrastructure is in place. We’re looking forward to this iteration of the Hub helping even more of the community cycle more often!”
Beth McDonald, Managing Director of Derbion, said: “The Cycle Hub has had a great impact since it opened in 2022, so we’re thrilled that it has opened the doors to its new location at Derbion. Delivering against our sustainability strategy, the hub has helped to facilitate more sustainable ways to visit both Derbion and the city centre and we are happy that it can continue to do so.
“Alongside the reopening of Cycle Hub, there’s plenty of excitement to come at Derbion over the coming weeks, which we look forward to revealing soon.”
