Four lucky shoppers have each won a £500 voucher at businesses in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter.
More than 4000 people entered this year’s Golden Ticket prize draw which was organised by Derby’s Business Improvement Districts (BIDs).
Martin Langsdale MBE, BID Chair for the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District (BID), said the recent prize draw had been a huge success.
He said:
“Shoppers loved posting their golden tickets into our post boxes and it was brilliant to be able to offer four people the chance to win a £500 voucher.
“Announcing the winners has been a great way to celebrate the start of 2025 - especially after welcoming so many new businesses to the city last year.”
The four winners, who will each receive a £500 voucher to spend at businesses in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter, are Sarah Greene, Kate Carr, Sarah Kilbane and Patrick Nyamekye.
Shoppers posted their entries into special post boxes across the city centre and four randomly selected winners were chosen.
The Golden Ticket promotion was launched by the BIDs to encourage more people to shop local over the Christmas period. It opened on Monday, November 11, and tickets were available in shops across the Derby and also in the Festive Guide, which was delivered to over 119,000 households. To enter, shoppers filled one out and posted it in one of the 20 post boxes located in businesses across the two BID areas. The deadline was Saturday, December 21, and the draw took place on Thursday 9th January.
One of the winners, Kate Carr, said:
“It was actually my son’s ticket that was drawn as a winner, we are absolutely over the moon to win, and we can’t wait to go shopping in Derby as a family. I never win anything, so this was a lovely surprise.”
Helen Wathall MBE, chair of the St Peters Quarter BID, said: “The Golden Ticket prize draw always attracts a huge number of entries, but this year they were exceptionally high.
“We are really thrilled for our four winners who will now be able to spend the vouchers in shops across the two BID areas.
“The BIDs work extremely hard to support local businesses and participation in the Golden Ticket promotion has been impressive.”
